This is a basic guide to help you get started with using Termites to automatically generate your seating charts. There are several more features that can be utilised later when you have familiarised yourself with these steps.

Step 1: Add students and details

When Termites is launched, you will see the Class List view:

You may add students in two ways:

  1. Click “Add Student” button. Manually type student name in the text box and press enter; or
  2. Click “Import CSV” button. This allows you to import a list of names and their ability from a CSV file.

Use the check boxes to define student’s gender and preferred location. Use the slider scales to add the students ability. You may add as little or as much information as you wish.Step 2: Define students’ relationships After you have entered your class list, you may now define the good and bad relationships that some students have with one another. Follow these steps:

  1. In the Class List view, click on a student’s name from the list.
  2. Under the Relationships sub-heading on the right, click the “Add” button at the bottom of the screen. A new window will pop up to add the new relationship.
  3. Use the drop down menu to select the other student that he/she has a relationship with.
  4. Use the slider scale to define how good or bad the relationship is between the two students.
  5. Click on the “Okay” button.
  6. Know The Signs Of Termites – Signs of Termites In Walls

Under the sub-heading “Relationship” on the right, click on the student he/she has a relationship with and then click the “Remove” button at the bottom of the screen. Click “Yes” in the pop-up window to confirm deletion.Step 3: Set Up ClassroomClick on the “Create Chart” button along the top of the screen. You are now in Create Chart view:In the “Set Up Classroom” control panel (in the top-left of the screen), type the width and height of your room in the text boxes. To add or remove desks to your seating chart, simply click on the cells below the control panel.Step 4: Define how you want to place the studentsIn the Create Chart view, the “Place students by:” control panel in the top-middle of the screen allows you to define how you want to place the students. Uncheck the “Random” box if you want to place students by relationships, ability, gender and/or location in the classroom. Multiple selection is allowed. Step 5: Create a seating chartIn the Create Chart view, the “Do It!” control panel in the top-right of the screen will automatically generate a seating chart based on your earlier selection of how you want to place the students. Click on the “Generate Chart” button to generate a seating chart for your classroom. This may take few minutes. You may tweak the chart by dragging and dropping student. You may then save or print this seating chart from the “File” menu. Loka visual blog
